I was taking my dog for a walk through our local canyon the other day. When I walk him, I often listen to podcasts geared towards healing from grief. My teenage son took his life 16 months ago and every day is a struggle and I miss him so deeply I can feel it in my heart. Being in nature and listening to podcasts are two types of things that bring me some sense of peace. I spotted the quilted heart in a tree and wondered why it was there. I had walked the trail hundreds of times, including with my son. When I saw the note on the back saying “I need a home”, I felt like it was a sign from my son that I needed a little bit of extra love that day. He is always right and I am grateful for the kindness of strangers who created this beautiful idea to spread love into this world. Thank you.
