I found this Heart along the McHenry Bike Trail near Ringwood, IL about a month ago. A little slow to post. 😊. I generally go for solemn walks along the trail to calm my anxiety. Finding this heart had an added calming comfort to me that day.
I lost my Mother a few years ago and she was a great comfort to me in my most difficult days. Now I turn to the outdoors to slow my mind and relax. I am trying to enjoy the smallest things. See subtle changes in the leaves, hear the birds’ song change as the autumn arrives. I try to ignore the sounds of a car on the road, the high pitches of the neighboring factory or drone of a lone private plane that flies overhead. But instead I focus on how the creek sounds different after a morning rain and notice how different, Year to Year, the colors are or how minimal the wild berries are this year to last. Katrina
