I found my heart hanging in a bush outside my vet’s office as I was dropping off a stray kitten, that found me, to be neutered. I walked by it at first thinking it had been dropped by someone and picked up and hung there by someone else but the tag caught my eye and when I read “I NEED A HOME!” I knew it was for me! It has special significance because I’ve always been an animal lover, my career was as a veterinary nurse and I still have a house and barn full of furry and feathered family members. It is also the anniversary of the tragic loss of one of my sweet cats. I still have her brother. They were also stray kittens I found at my parents home that my Mom encouraged me to keep. My Mom is gone now and I will be spending Thanksgiving with my Dad and sorting through through her things. She had lots of colorful fabric quarters for quilting that I can only think I now need to bring home to make hearts for her and my sweet kitty. I’ve sewn since I was a young girl but haven’t been able to do much “crafty” stuff since a major move a few years ago that I’ve had a hard time adjusting to that has caused bouts of depression. I believe this was a sign from my Mom to get back to being me and doing what I enjoy! My hope is that the hearts I make will bring a smile or sweet memory or maybe just a little needed love to those who find them!
