It was heart day today, and I was out for a walk in the rare (for Wisconsin) “green” Valentines Day. Low and behold, there were two hearts each a block apart from each other on my alternative exercise route.
The first QH I must have passed at least five times, but today I questioned it, because I was keeping a lookout for a Quilted Heart for Valentines Day. It was certainly unexpected to find a harvest themed heart bent over a branch in a tree like a stubborn leaf that refused to fall. (Maybe it had only recently been placed?) The fabric is nice and spongy, and after an hour of being pressed looks quite nice now that it sits flat. The stitching is square, and on the upper areas parallel diagonal lines. It’s clear that a lot of love when into crafting this charm.
The second QH was far more in your face calling out to me. There was no way for me to miss this Quilted Heart. It’s exactly the kind of mushy love themed heart that fit the day’s theme. It has the words “Romance”, “Hug me”, “Love me”, “Hugs and Kisses” and “Hearts” written in the center area. It has a wavy stitching pattern that is much more vivid on the pure red back side of the heart. While I’m currently single, maybe this heart is a message that things will change soon? (If so, would that mean the other heart I found meant that a pumpkin pie was nearby too? lol)
To help spread the word, I saw my neighbors pull into their driveway, and showed them the hearts. My neighbor’s kid said that they found one yesterday nearby, so our local heart quilters and sowers have likely blanketed the area with love again. Of which I hope many people enjoy finding them (and posting about them!), I certainly enjoy bumping into them from time to time.
