Lopez Island, WA USA

After a rough couple of years, I was exhausted and a bit defeated. A year or so prior, I had won an auction bid at a gala – 5 days at a lovely home on Lopez Island, Washington. It seemed time to take that trip- for spacious time to reflect in beautiful nature.

I am a volunteer for our library system in Northern California and when I travel I l
love to visit libraries. After a morning of hiking, watching seals (mamas and young ones) frolicking in the water, we heading in for a meal- and a visit to the library.

Walking into the Lopez Island Library- a beautiful, small but “rich” library- I saw this beautiful heart hanging in a tree.

Curious, I walked over… and read the “I Need a Home” tag. I was shocked…how was something so beautiful not spoken for? Who does this amazing thing? Was I really able to take this heart? It seemed a message of healing, of hope…of goodness in the world. All messages I truly needed at the time. It now hangs beside my bed and I see it each morning and night, reminded of this impactful gift, and a reminder to share kindnesses each day.

Thank you, kind stranger. Thank you IFAQH.
