I found my quilted heart as I walked along the D&R canal trail. I took time off work to decompress and do some thing that makes me happy, which is enjoying nature. The walk was quiet time for me, time to think about what I’m grateful for, things that make me happy, how to be better, and prayers for people in need. I also thought about how to make my life more purposeful as my two adult sons are on their own and my youngest son preparing for college in a year. A little bit of an empty nest feeling coming on I suppose.
Halfway into my walk I sat on a bench for a moment before turning back for home. As I got up and proceeded walking back, I noticed something dangling from a tree branch. Some thing I had not seen on my walk earlier. I reached out for it and turned it over to find the tag saying I need a home! How pretty the heart was, and how it made me smile to find it. At first I thought, should I take it? My next thought was that I was meant to find this. The heart pattern was filled with dogs!! How coincidental that I’ve been thinking I need a pet.
Growing up I always had dogs and miss having one, they are great companions so this heart brought back fond memories. However, my husband has severe allergies to pets so it’s not an option. I had a rabbit in the past I’m considering getting another one that I can get a nice outdoor hutch for. So I may not be able to get a real dog, but I now have my dog heart quilt to make me smile 😊 thank you for my quilted heart!
