I was sitting at a park on a sunny gorgeous october day in Glen Ellyn Illinois. Our community had just lost a special 8th grade boy, Simon N to Leukemia. His wake was that night. I sat on a park bench thinking about him and his mom…wondering how life can be so unfair at times. When I looked up and saw this heart hanging from a nearby branch, it made me smile. I took a picture of it and continued on my way. The next day (the day of Simons funeral) I stopped to see it again…when I turned it over I saw the sign #IFAQH and immediately looked it up. I was so elated to know about this group and truly felt this was meant for me to find. Our community is full of trees tied with gold ribbon and Simon’s mom, Ellen N shared the poem “nothing gold can stay” by Robert Frost when she announced Simons passing. The heart I found is gold…a definite sign.
This perfect gold quilted heart is dedicated to Simon
Forever in our hearts.
