I was taking my daily walk on the Redstone Rail Trail in East Longmeadow Massachusetts when I spotted something under a fence. I walked by it initially because I thought it was someone’s personal belongings and decided I’d pick it up on my way back if it was still there and hang it from the bulletin board which has become somewhat of a lost and found. On my way back the object was indeed still there so I picked it up. It was something wrapped in cellophane and to my surprise it was an adorable little quilted heart. It was meant to be that I found that heart! My first granddaughter passed away the day she was born 6 years ago and since the day she passed I have been finding hearts in the strangest places. I’ve found shells, rocks, even an ant hill shaped like a heart. There’s been spilt milk, vegetables, even a donut hole in the shape of a heart. I take pictures of them all and have amassed 116 pictures of the hearts that have appeared before me. I consider these events visits from Liza. So, thank you to whomever left it there for me to find. My husband suggested I keep it to hang on my Christmas tree, but I decided to hang it in my living room so I can see it every day. And yes, it will also go on my Christmas tree!
