On the beautiful and sunny day of June 1st, my husband and I decided to have a picnic lunch at his favorite spot – Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth. We go there often as it is only a 20 minute drive from our home in Portland. It is a special place for us – you see, he had a stroke about 7 1/2 years ago at only age 43, and he lost some mobility and speech- but he feels that when he is there he can just sit and listen to the crashing waves and admire the amazing Maine coast. We sat on one of our favorite benches overlooking the ocean and out of the corner of my eye something tucked into the rocks got my attention. I picked it up thinking someone had lost something but was delighted to see it was a quilted heart. What a special way to celebrate the start of another summer in Maine!
