First I would like to apologize for taking so long to write my story. A month ago I was walking my dog in the early morning. I could see something swaying in the wind on the fence along the path. Upon closer investigation I found this quilted heart, with a note attached, “I need a home!” I carefully untwisted the the tie and held it in my hands.
The gold button glittering in the morning sunrise, the fabric with pictures of birds, birdhouses, and flowers, brought me to my childhood a long time ago. I could visualize my mom looking through the binoculars finding the birds In each of our birdhouses in our yard, I could feel my dads hand on my shoulder showing me where to look, the smell of the flowers in the distance. For a brief moment my parents were with me. Whispering to slow down, breathe and enjoy. It was the perfect moment and one that I will forever cherish. Thank you to the person who brought me so much joy. This heart sits on my cabinet in my kitchen as I gaze out the window watching the birds with my parents a whisper away.
