I found my heart as I was walking along through my neighborhood this evening. The week had been particularly tough as I had just begun another round of student teaching for practicum. I was feeling quite burnt out but was hopeful! Today was somehow better, I felt like I had hope to make it through some things that were really stressing me out. After a successful day in the classroom, I decided to head out for a walk to take in some sunshine and fresh air. As I was going, I was so thankful I had! I took in the sky, the birds and trees. Everything seemed to be saying hello to me. And then I spotted it. This tiny reddish object dangling from a tree. I though maybe at first it was a lost mitten or a hat. I took a closer look and immediately saw the tag “I NEED A HOME” and my heart felt like it melted. It was there for me to find, a tiny reminder that HEART is What will get me through the hard days. This tiny little heart reminded me to keep my eyes open for the little things because they’re out there and they are so worth finding. Thank you to whomever made this little heart. You turned a particularly dreary week into one that was filled with hope and joy. I will cherish this quilted heart and even bring it into my classroom in the future.
