I had toured the Normandy War Museum and nearby British Memorial Cemetery and was feeling a little sad thinking about the tremendous loss of life and sacrifice for freedom on D Day when as I was walking back not far from the museum when I noticed the heart hanging from a shrub growing along the street. I stopped to look and then continued to take a couple steps when I turned back to take a closer look and found the note pinned to it. Not wanting to take something I shouldn’t, I read it again and finally realized it was for me. It was the perfect heart for me at the moment because it has the white dove of peace. I had also just been thinking that there is no greater message for peace than a war cemetery. Also, seeing the dove and heart gave me peace and made me reflect on not just the sacrifice of all these young men, but the dove and all its symbolism. It is a meaningful memento from my trip to France and will hang on my Christmas tree every year from now on. Thank you. 😊
