Ventura, CA USA

I found this quilted heart hanging from a small bush next to my parked car. I believe it truly was meant for me to find. My mom unexpectedly passed away 12 years ago. After she passed I began to randomly find hearts in many forms: from a heart coffee stain on my dad’s kitchen counter the same morning we got back from the hospital the morning my mom passed. No one had been home that morning, let alone making any coffee yet. I had gone into the kitchen to make coffee for my dad, my brothers and myself when I saw the first heart, the coffee stain in the shape of a heart. That was the first of many many hearts I have come to find over these years. My mom knew I loved hearts in any form. The other significant part of finding this special heart that day in Ventura was its design and color. It was purple. And, it also had fish shapes along one panel. Fish shapes like, Jesus symbols. My mom’s funeral flowers were purple, one of her favorite colors. And, her faith was always unwavering, even under devastating circumstances. Finding this heart was just another reminder to me that my mom’s love will be with me always.
