Colusa, CA USA

Well.
I was feeling heavy-hearted this morning; I have the moving blues. I’m moving my travel trailer I live in to the the storage area so that I can go spend some time with my mom. In many ways, this is a positive change.
But I will also be leaving behind some things that I love; the Colusa Wildlife Refuge, which has been my refuge as I worked through some things the past few years; my two-mile walk along the Sacramento river; my big brother, Kenneth Shannon and his dog, Champ; some good neighbors and a good landlord, to name a few. I won’t miss the triple digit heat and the mosquitoes, though.
So on a break from moving chores, I came to the refuge. I saw something red in the bushes and went to investigate. There, I found this little quilted heart that someone had hung in a branch. On one side, it has a note that says, “I need a home…,” and a request to post a picture when found On the other side, the note says, “You are loved.”
It touched me deeply to find this at exactly the moment I needed encouragement. I do know I am loved, but this really brightened up my day. Thank you.
